Ruth Langsford ‘wiped out’ by illness as she makes Loose Women return

Loose Women welcomes Ruth Langsford back

Loose Women fans were thrilled to see Ruth Langsford has returned to the panel after some time off.

Last week, the 63-year-old was forced to take some time off after being hit by an illness which she spoke about on Monday’s show.

Addressing her absence, Coleen Nolan said: “Just before we carry on, where the hell have you been?”

Ruth replied: “I’ve been poorly and sickly. It’s very nice to be back in the real world.”

As the audience let out a sympathetic noise, Coleen confessed the women on the panel missed her.

She replied: “If you’ve got the lurgy at the moment, so many people have got this.

“I don’t know what it is, I had a chest infection, antibiotics, awful, wiped out.”

As Ruth spoke about her illness, a photo appeared on-screen of her inhaling steam to help with her symptoms.

The panellist continued: “That was Eamonn (filming), I was like, ‘would you go away!’

As Kelly Holmes highlighted there’s a new variant of coronavirus, Ruth shared she had taken three tests which all came back negative.

She added: “I literally, I thought, ‘Oh I’ve got a bit of a cold’. I was sipping Lemsip and honey and lemon and all this stuff you do.

“I was lying on the bed feeling sorry for myself and I thought, ‘What’s that noise? What’s that funny noise?’[ I realised it was my chest.

“It was literally like a death rattle! “

Admitting that was the moment she realised she had to go to the hospital, she was then given antibiotics.

She told her co-hosts that she’s better now and feels fine, but still has a croaky feeling in her chest.

It seems as though Ruth isn’t the only person within ITV who’s been struck down with the bug.

On Monday morning, Susanna Reid was missing from Good Morning Britain after losing her voice.
