Linda Nolan shares cancer update after believing shed never make Christmas

Linda Nolan shares the news that her tumours have shrunk

Linda Nolan has shared a promising cancer update after believing she wouldn’t make it to Christmas during a Good Morning Britain appearance.

Speaking to Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard on Thursday, Linda revealed her tumours have shrunk and “haven’t spread”.

“My brother came with me this time and we were both sitting there for 20 minutes and we were talking about nothing because we were so nervous about getting the news,” Linda said of a recent hospital visit.

“And when he went in, I knew straight away that it was good news by the look on my consultant’s face. He said the scans were good and that there was shrinkage around the tumours.

“I wanted to put my arms around him and kiss him but I thought they might throw me out!”

Susanna, who was thrilled at Linda’s update, added: “What an incredible Christmas gift, Linda.”

The 64-year-old responded: “Oh, absolutely. You know, when I spoke to you before, I didn’t think I’d make Christmas.

“I was hoping to make the birth of my nephew… And then I was thinking, ‘How many more milestones will I make?’

Linda said she “feels good” during the ITV interview despite still being in a “little bit of pain”, and she is appreciating life.

Her doctors have told her to keep her body moving, so she recently visited a garden centre with her loved ones.

She added: “I wake up thinking it is another day to make memories and not that it is another day closer [to dying] and that helps me.”

Linda rose to fame as one of the Nolan Sisters, and she was first diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2006.

The singer revealed a third recurrence of the illness in her liver in 2020, and this March, she announced the cancer had spread to her brain.

Cancer has impacted several family members, with Bernie Nolan dying of breast cancer in 2013 aged 52 years old. Her sister Anne is now cancer-free, but she was also diagnosed with breast cancer.

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays between 6am and 9am on ITV.
