Coronation Street: Paul struggles to lift his wine glass
In the latest episode of Coronation Street, fans of the ITV soap watched Shelly Rossington (played by Natalie Amber) lose her battle to MND.
Over the past few weeks, viewers have seen the newcomer develop a close friendship with Paul Foreman (Peter Ash).
The duo met at a Motor Neurone Disease support group and with her condition at a further stage than his, Shelly gave him an insight into what he could expect down the line.
On Friday night, Paul had planned to pay Shelly a visit at her flat to give her a gift and reveal he was going to end the scam she had started with his mum Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove).
However, on his way over he ended up taking a fall and was left shaken when he was unable to get back up.

Not wanting to call Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) as he knew he’d urge Paul to use his wheelchair, he called Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) to help instead.
Although Todd seemed to side with Billy and later on viewers sat Paul realised it was time for Paul to use his wheelchair to avoid another incident happening again.
As Weatherfield residents made Paul feel welcome, with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) commenting on his “new wheels”, he decided to call Shelly.
Wanting to speak to her to let her know what was going on, he was disheartened when the phone went to voicemail.

Unaware of what was happening at her flat, viewers found out the heartbreaking reason she wasn’t answering her phone.
