Charlie De Melo, 34, played Imran Habeeb as a series regular in ITV’s Corrie from 2017 until 2022.
He was recently confirmed to be the latest star to be involved in Doctor Who’s 60th Anniversary specials, where he will play a character named Charlie Banerjee.
Revealing the news last month, he shared on X (formerly Twitter): “Keeping this quiet has been a minor torture. Very excited to be a cog in this magnificent machine.
“Two 60th Anniversaries on two titans of British television. It’s a niche feather in my cap, but I shall wear it with pride.”
The actor has appeared on-screen elsewhere in recent years, but here’s what his life is like away from our TV screens.
Who is Charlie De Melo’s girlfriend?
Charlie De Melo is in a relationship with former Coronation Street co-star, Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Battersby.
The pair played each other’s love interests on-screen, before Charlie’s character Imran was killed in a car crash while he was with Toyah.
It came after Toyah discovered Imran’s one-night stand with Abi Webster (Sally Carman), who became pregnant with his child.
But despite a rather tragic end on-screen, the pair have found love off-screen and regularly share snaps on social media together.
Georgia and Charlie often travel together, and have posted pics of trips from destinations such as Edinburgh and Sorrento, in Italy.
The pair first sparked romance rumours in February this year, shortly after it was reported Georgia had split from her partner Mark Letheren after 14 years.
What else has Charlie De Melo starred in?
Charlie started off his TV career by starring in episodes of Casualty and Doctors back in 2013 and 2014.
He then went onto appear as a member of the core cast in BBC drama The Interceptor, playing a character named Martin.
The show followed a new law enforcement team tasked with hunting down some of Britain's most wanted criminals.
Coronation Street isn’t the only soap Charlie has featured in, having previously undertaken the recurring role of PC Jaz Jones in EastEnders.
Months later her joined the cast of Corrie, where he remained for five years. During this time, he was nominated for several awards, including for Best Leading Performer at the British Soap Awards.
He was introduced as the brother of established character Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia) and arrived to attend Rana's wedding.
Imran was later made a regular on the show after making a return in 2018.
