Big Brothers Kerry apologises after warning over offensive and outdated term

Big Brother's Kerry had used the term gay to describe something negatively during the live feed on Sunday night's show.

Viewers weren't impressed with the NHS Manager when she shared her frustration about her mattress being hidden by her housemates. Before finding out they were behind it, she was told that the public had voted for her to lose it.

While she sat down with her housemates Olivia and Jenkin as they lied about what happened to her bed, Kerry said: "Well this is gay", in response to being targeted. A spokesperson for Big Brother said Kerry was spoken to after her language.

They said: "Kerry was brought to the diary room to discuss her inappropriate use of language. Big Brother reminded Kerry of her respect and inclusion training prior to entering the House and the consequences of any further use of offensive language.

"Kerry understood and apologised for any offense caused." The comment took place during the live feed and as viewers discovered what she said, the outrage quickly circulated.

As a rundown of what happened during the live feed was shared on Reddit, viewers shared their frustrations with Kerry. One user wrote: "'Well this is gay' another slip of the mask."

Another said: "I hope she gets reprimanded for that." A third said they hadn't heard someone use that expression in years and said it was "shockingly awful and outdated".

Kerry's frustrations took place after Olivia and Jenkin opted to play a prank on her. They told her the public had voted for her to lose her mattress, which left her feeling disgruntled.

She was told that ITV producers had sneaked into the house and taken the mattress away and she had to go without. Meanwhile, her belongings were actually hidden in the kitchen.

As she begged to talk to Big Brother to plead with them to get it back, Olivia and Jenkin finally admitted they'd taken it and returned it to her. While she laughed along with the pair she told them she thought they were her friends in a final cheeky dig.

Big Brother continues weeknights at 9pm on ITV.
