BBC Breakfast favourite forced to ditch morning show for huge Strictly role

BBC Breakfast fans woke up to a pleasant surprise at the start of this week when they spotted a regular presenter was notably missing from the famous red sofa.

On Monday morning (December 4), TV presenter Sally Nugent was nowhere to be seen. The brunette beauty, 52, usually hosts the morning show with her co-host Jon Kay from Monday to Wednesday.

But this week, the beloved BBC news program suffered a presenter shake-up when the mum-of-one was nowhere to be seen. Instead, her colleague Sarah Campbell, 50, stood in for her and presented the show alongside the 54-year-old broadcaster.

Although it is not known why Sally was missing from the programme today, the newsreader recently announced she has joined the star-studded line-up for the Strictly Come DancingChristmas special. Taking to Instagram, the TV star posed up a storm beside her professional dance partner Graziano Di Prima on the ballroom set.

The presenter was all smiles as she posed up a storm on the famous staircase in a black sparkly long-sleeved top which she teamed with a pair of skintight navy-blue leggings. Sally shared the poignant truth behind the Strictly special following her marriage split earlier this year.

She captioned the post: “I was in need of a little pick me up when the lovely people at Strictly called. They kindly suggested I might like to learn to dance with @grazianodiprima in time for Christmas.

“I am definitely not a dancer – but I will try my best. And there is no one better to learn with.” Sally continued: “Join us on our Christmas adventure and I guarantee that we will all have fun along the way. Ciao [waving emoji].”

The broadcaster has had a tough few months, after her marriage split from husband Gavin Hawthorn was revealed back in May. The couple had been married for 13 years and share a teenage son.

Despite the split reportedly being “amicable”, reports at the time claimed the doting mum was “devastated” at their separation. Joining Sally on the Christmas special is History broadcaster Dan Snow and EastEnders favourite Jamie Borthwick will be getting into their dancing shoes.

Also taking to the famous ballroom is actress Tillie Amartey, Rugby star Danny Cipriani and Sugababes star Keisha Buchanan. Just like the main show, they will be assigned a professional dance partner for their festive routine.

They will also face criticism and scoring by glamorous judges Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke. However, fans will not be able to vote for their favourite celebrity to win the show, instead the live studio audience will decide the winner on the night.
