Christine McGuinness shares terrifying cancer scare as she found lump on breast

Christine McGuinness has told of a terrifying cancer scare.

The reality star, 35, had an emergency appointment after spotting something wrong with one of her breasts. Revealing her ordeal for the first time, she told the Daily Star: “Before I had children, I found a lump one day.

“Women in my family have had breast cancer. Because of that history, I got seen quite quickly. I had a full check-up and I had scans.”
Christine was given the news the lump was not cancerous.

The former beauty queen now has regular checks to make sure she is in good health. And she added: “I always check
myself when I’m in the shower.”

Christine’s mum and three of her aunts have had cancer. She is now using her experience to raise awareness of the importance of early detection – survival rates can be as high as 99% if the disease is spotted in time.

Mum-of-three Christine, who split from husband Paddy last year, said: “If you see any changes or you are unsure, you’ve got to go and get it checked out.”

Christine has admitted that her divorce from Paddy has been "difficult" and that her mum has been her rock. She told the Mirror: "I am obviously going through a difficult divorce right now, things are hard, but I will always continue to smile and the reason is because I am my mother’s daughter, she has instilled that in me.

"She has been my rock and is a huge inspiration to me." Christine and Paddy have three children, twins Penelope, and Leo, ten, and Felicity, seven, who, have all been diagnosed with autism like their mum.
