Stars and creators of Suits might be rejoicing about the show’s newfound success on Netflix but one star is keenly aware of why exactly fans are suddenly tuning in.
After finding a home on Netflix, the show broke Nielsen streaming records this summer after racking up 18 billion minutes of viewing on streamers in the month of July, making it the most watched show of the summer. For Patrick J. Adams, however, the show’s popularity is not something he’s gloating about.
Adams, who played Michael Ross on the show, hilarious switched up his Instagram bio to address his famous co-star, Meghan Markle, and her role in attracting viewers to Suits. He bio reads: “The guy from that show you’re watching on that app because that girl married that prince.”
Now, listen, we’re not suggesting that Suits’ popularity on Netflix has nothing to do with the quality of the show but we definitely appreciate Adams’ self-awareness about what — or rather who — everyone is suddenly so interested in!
Adams’ character was the love interest of Markle’s character, Rachel Zane, for the show’s nine season run between 2011 and 2019, and was even close friends with the former Royal family member on set. Adams attended Markle’s wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.
In a 2020 interview, he admitted that they were no longer as close as they once were but said they’re still on good terms. “Quite frankly, I think I’m intimidated,” he admitted at the time. “I have no doubt I could pick up the phone and call her at any moment, but I don’t know what I would say.”

“After our children were born, there were some texts sent and gifts sent, but I guess I’m a little scared,” he explained. “I think it’s pure fear. I guess I’m scared about the idea of breaking through whatever walls exist to have that conversation.”
