Kelly Clarkson Covers Frank Sinatra Classic 'I Get A Kick Out Of You'

Kelly Clarkson performed a cover of Frank Sinatra classic “I Get a Kick Out of You” during the “Kellyoke” segment of a recent episode of he daytime talk show “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

“I get no kick from champagne / Mere alcohol doesn’t thrill me at all / So tell me why should it be true / That I get a kick out of you,” Clarkson croons in the chorus.

“I Get a Kick Out of You” is a song by Cole Porter, which was first sung in the 1934 Broadway musical Anything Goes and then in the 1936 film version.

Originally sung by Ethel Merman, it has been covered by dozens of prominent performers, including Sinatra, Dolly Parton, and Ella Fitzgerald.

A cover by Mel Torme won the 1996 Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement with Accompanying Vocal(s) for arranger Rob McConnell. A duet version by Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga was nominated for three awards at the 2022 Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year.
