I’m a Celeb: Sam Thompson cheerful as he lands in Australia
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Sam Thompson said he refrained from discussing his jungle stint with girlfriend Zara McDermott too much as he didnt want to make it all about him during her Strictly Come Dancing journey.
Ahead of flying out to Australia for the show, the Made In Chelsea star had been supporting Zara, 26, in the BBC dance competition.
The Love Island contestant gave it her all on the dance floor after 12-hour day rehearsals with professional partner Graziano Di Prima, but sadly her journey came to an end last month.
Sam, 31, has now said Zara’s busy schedule had prevented him from discussing the jungle in detail, but said she is “really happy” for him.
He spilled: “I watched the show when I was younger with my family and they are all so excited.

“My girlfriend is really happy for me, too. She is proud.
“We haven’t chatted too much about it in the run up as she has been doing Strictly and I haven’t wanted to make it about me.”
Of what he’s dreading the most about the jungle, he added: “I am not a creepy crawly guy and I hate anyone or anything touching my neck.”
Arriving at Brisbane airport this week, Sam also joked Zara would be glad to see the back of him for a while.
He told Mail Online: “She’s probably happy! I think the last thing she said to me is, ‘I can’t wait to starfish in the bed’.
“No, I’ll tell you what she said, ‘I get to put the heating on as high as I want without you having a go at me’.”

Zara has since taken to her Instagram page to send her boyfriend luck and also urged her fans to vote for him to do the gruesome eating challenges.
Alongside a picture of the pair, she wrote: “HE’S GONE DOWN UNDER!!!
“The rumours were true, I am so proud of you and so excited for you and for this adventure.
“I cannot wait to watch you every single night and be supporting you every step of the way.
“PS can we all please vote for Sam to do one of the eating challenges?
“I think it would make great entertainment considering how squeamish he is.”
Sam will be joined in camp by; Nigel Farage, Nella Rose, Grace Dent, Marvin Humes, Josie Gibson, Fred Sirieix, Jamie Lynn Spears, Nick Pickard and Danielle Harold.
