Olivia Colman prank calls Paul Rudd
The Crown star Olivia Colman is taking on the starring role of Edith Swan, a deeply conservative woman who is quick to point the finger in her community’s mystery.
Netflix actress Olivia is set to star alongside Jessie Buckley, who will play Rose Gooding, the fiery younger woman wrongly accused of drafting a spate of hateful letters to various members of the community.
The trailer for the film dropped today and was saturated with swear words – something viewers wouldn’t have seen from Olivia in her recent regal role.
The synopsis for the film reads: “A 1920s English seaside town bears witness to a farcical and occasionally sinister scandal in this riotous mystery comedy.
“Based on a stranger-than-fiction true story, Wicked Little Letters follows two neighbours: deeply conservative local Edith Swan and rowdy Irish migrant Rose Gooding.

“When Edith and fellow residents begin to receive wicked letters full of unintentionally hilarious profanities, foul-mouthed Rose is charged with the crime.
“The anonymous letters prompt a national uproar, and a trial ensues. However, as the town’s women, led by Police Officer Gladys Moss [Anjana Vasan], begin to investigate the crime themselves, they suspect that something is amiss, and Rose may not be the culprit after all.”
Timothy Spall, Hugh Skinner and Joanna Scanlan have also been cast in unconfirmed roles.
After the trailer dropped, many fans of Olivia’s were quick to comment on her upcoming performance.
The two-and-a-half-minute teaser gives fans a hint at the show’s outrageous language and playful humour.
