NTAs: Strictly cast pay tribute to Amy Dowden after winning award
New Strictly It Takes Two host Fleur East gave a heartfelt shoutout to Amy Dowden as the show collected the Talent Show Award at Tuesday night’s NTAs.
Accepting the gong, 2022 contestant Fleur referenced the Strictly Come Dancing professional dancers before singling Amy out for a tribute.
“It’s extra special [the award] because we are joined by the fabulous Amy Dowden on stage who looks absolutely incredible,” she said.
Fellow ex-contestant Tyler West echoed her sentiment saying: “We love you Am, honestly.”
Amy, 33, is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer and so is unable to participate in this year’s show as a professional dancer.

However, despite undergoing fgruelling treatment, she did manage to attend the glitzy event and joined the team on stage at the ceremony last night.
She used the occasion to raise awareness of the disease as she proudly wore a breast cancer awareness badge pinned to her stunning gown as she took to the red carpet.
Amy donned an elegant pink tulle off-the-shoulder dress accessorised with a gold clutch handbag.
Just hours before taking to the red carpet, Amy admitted she had suffered from sickness and tiredness due to steroids, along with hair loss and mouth ulcers.
Fortunately, the Strictly favourite told fans she was beginning to feel like herself again.

Amy divulged: “I’m definitely feeling more like Amy today. [My] mouth is covered in mouth ulcers and some are quite swollen. Obviously losing the hair still, and you can’t sleep because of the steroids but you’re so tired.”
She added on Instagram: “So those are symptoms I’ve got but I’ve not ended up in hospital so far after this admission so that’s a win-win.”
She has been through a gruelling three rounds of chemo so far and also contracted sepsis last month and ended up in the ICU.
Following the health scare she explained that she was initially feeling okay, but alarm bells started ringing when her temperature soared to 37.7 degrees Celsius and she felt sick. After receiving multiple antibiotics, she started to show signs of improvement and was discharged from hospital after four nights.
Strictly come Dancing returns to BBC One on September 16.
