Coronation Street fans were left shocked after Tim Metcalfe unveiled a huge tattoo as he sat in a hot tub with Peter Barlow during the Monday 18 December episode of the hit ITV soap.
The taxi driver, who is played by Joe Duttine, spotted Peter (Chris Gascoyne) wandering around Victoria Gardens, as he continues to struggle after killing serial killer Stephen Reid earlier this year.
Tim invited Peter round for a heart to heart in the hot tub, which was sat in the back garden of Tim's wife Sally Metcalfe's house.
As they sat and chatted, show viewers couldn't help but be distracted by Tim's large tattoos, including a huge eagle wing inking across his shoulder.
Corrie fans took to Twitter to comment on the tattoos, with one saying: "That is one big tattoo Tim!" whilst another wrote: "Where did Tim's tatts come from?"
A third speculated: "That a tattoo of Sally on Tim's arm?"
Peter opened up to Tim about the possibility of leaving Weatherfield for good, as he asked Tim: “Were you never tempted to just up sticks and leave everything behind?”
Tim tried to encourage Peter to move on from what happened with Stephen, and to focus on the good things in his life instead.
But Peter told him: “I could count my blessings. Carla, my family and everything that’s good in my life and it would be OK for a bit.
“But then I’d walk out my front door and be standing on the spot where I killed Stephen.
“I’d be back behind the wheel and living in that moment, not this one. And I can’t ever see that changing.”
Peter was clearly struggling on Monday night's episode, not helped by the fact that his wife Carla (Alison King) was too busy with work to spend time with him, despite him cooking her breakfast and, later, dinner too.
As regular viewers will know, Stephen’s death came at the hands of cab driver Peter on a dramatic episode of the soap in October, after he had publicly come clean to the entire street about a string of crimes he was responsible for, including the murders of Rufus Donahue and Teddy and Leo Thompkins.
Keen to avoid being brought to justice for his crimes, Stephen attempted to flee, however during his escape attempt, he held his former love interest Jenny Connor hostage, prompting Peter to intervene.
In unexpected scenes, Peter was seen driving his minicab into the killer, at speed, sending Stephen crashing to the floor in a shocking culmination of the nail biting storyline.
As a result of the crash, Stephen died at the scene – something which Stephen’s mother Audrey Roberts insisted was an act of “cold blooded murder.”
