Strictly Come Dancing star Nigel Harman, who was sadly forced to withdraw ahead of the musical special quarter final at the weekend due to sustaining a painful injury, reportedly "kicked off" at his wife Lucy Liemann off-camera at Blackpool.
The EastEnders heartthrob and Casualty actor, 50, had been suffering from difficult judges' comments for a couple of weeks despite hordes of his fans praising him for pulling impressive dances out of the bag.
Nigel was gearing up for a golden-age style Quickstep in the iconic ballroom, which he and professional dance partner Katya Jones performed to classic song It Don't Mean A Thing by Duke Ellington.
Sadly, the couple suffered a number of mistakes in the dance, and as a result received mixed comments from judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton du Beke.
While the pair's popularity was enough to send them through to the following week in the competition, at the time, Nigel was reportedly left feeling frustrated.
When the cameras stopped rolling during VT breaks, the star was said to have expressed his feelings with Lucy in dramatic scenes.
The Daily Mail claimed sources in the audience at the highly-anticipated annual show witnessed Nigel "kicking off" after receiving his scores. The popular actor was said to have "stormed" back to his seat after hearing his feedback from the judging panel.
He was then said to have had a tense discussion with his wife and while she tried to "pacify him," Nigel took out his disappointment on her when it didn't work.
Reports claimed that Nigel was one of the only contestants who refused to interact with fans in the audience that night, due to being so "in the zone" ahead of his dance.
"Nigel was super pumped up for the show, unlike the other celebrities they all interacted with fans as they took to their seats off camera after being introduced, but he was just in the zone, he ignored people saying hello to him," a source told the publication.
"And it all kicked off when he got his scores from the judges. When the cameras stopped rolling he stormed back to his seat and beckoned his wife over.
"You could tell she knew what was coming," the source went on. "She tried to pacify him but it didn’t work and he took his disappointment out on her."
The insider went on to say that after Nigel walked off, Katya was seen trying to "console" Lucy over the situation. They added that Nigel's wife had been noted as "visibly upset" as a result of her husband's disappointment following the performance.
OK! has contacted representatives for Nigel and the Strictly Come Dancing team for comment.
With Nigel unfortunately departing the competition prematurely ahead of the quarter final at the weekend, the remaining four couples were saved from a public vote last week. Instead, the competitors' scores will be added on to their next performances at the semi-final.
