Amanda Abbington shuts down feud rumours with Gio and says they ‘laugh a lot’
Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Brendan Cole believes there is “friction” between Amanda Abbington and her partner Giovanni Pernice.
Despite Amanda, 49, and Giovanni, 33, sitting second on the Strictly leaderboard, having impressed the judges with their Waltz to ‘Pointless’ by Lewis Capaldi and Salsa to ‘Oye’ by Gloria Estefan, Brendan Cole, 47, believes the pair do not trust one another.
The couple have previously insisted that they are not feuding behind the scenes, however, Brendan thinks he can see the cracks in their relationship.
Speaking to Sky Bingo, the former Dancing On Ice contestant said: “With Amanda and Giovanni, they were really bringing it home about trust. There was a great telling moment – Giovanni said, ‘Do you trust me?’”
“And she said something along the lines of ‘Of course I trust you.’ But at the same time, she was looking away – for me, body language is everything.”

The ex-Strictly pro, who was an integral member of the show for 15 seasons continued: “You can tell if somebody is lying – as she’s saying it, she’s literally looking away, so I think that she doesn’t trust him.”
However, Brendan claimed that this supposed lack of trust could be related to Giovanni’s way of working.
“It could be a fact that she doesn’t trust his motives within the show, she doesn’t trust his way of doing things – the friction in the relationship is real,” he added.
Brendan also got candid about his time in the BBC ballroom and discussed how it feels to fall out with your partner.

“I’ve had that twice really strongly, where we couldn’t even be in the same studio together – it was awful.
“The hardest part about Strictly is if you don’t gel with your partner, you are in such trouble.”
“You spend such a lot of time together, it’s so intense, the training is intense, the time you spend together in the studio, sometimes for hours, sometimes eight hours, sometimes longer.”
While Amanda and Giovanni may be “feeling uncomfortable”, the pair will be hoping to rise to the top of the leaderboard with their third live dance this weekend.
On Saturday, the Sherlock actor will take to the floor to perform a Rumba to ‘Out of Reach’ by Gabrielle from 2001’s Bridget Jones’s Diary.
The track itself was originally written for Sharon Maguire’s romantic comedy, based on Helen Fielding’s 1996 book of the same name.
You can watch Strictly Come Dancing’s Movie Week on Saturday at 6.20pm on BBC One.
