The weather is gloomy and it’s officially cosy season, so many women will be ditching their summery hairstyles and colours in favour of autumn ones.
Express.co.uk asked leading hair expert Inanch Emir what women over 50 should go for this season if they’re looking for a change.
Inanch Emir is the creative director of Inanch London, an award-winning salon which has transformed the tresses of many a model and celebrity.
While people often associate lighter shades with summer and darker shades with winter, Inanch suggested this is being turned on its head.
She exclusively told Express.co.uk: “Caramel blondes have made a comeback and are really in this autumn – they suit most age groups so don’t be scared to experiment with these flattering shades!”

A caramel can work for both natural blondes and brunettes alike. It can also be used to conceal greys – which will in turn help you look younger – so it’s definitely a win.
Inanch said: “If you are blonde then definitely add in some caramels to break up block colour and reduce greys. I would avoid ash tones as these can turn out dull and will age you more.
“If you are dark haired, grey hair will show up more so add in some low lights which will take the attention off of the unwanted greys and make them less obvious.”

She explained: “Low lights are great for adding depth and will keep you looking and feeling youthful!”
You can rock caramel strands whether your hair is long or short, according to the expert.
Inanch provided a solution for those who want to go caramel but are afraid their hair is too thin.
She said: “When we hit the menopause, this will have an effect on the condition and thickness of our hair. Remember you don’t have to chop the locks if you are not ready! Good hair extensions will keep hair looking fabulous and luscious for longer!”
Inanch London offers a range of natural looking extensions, including Indian Temple hair (for wavy hair) and Russian / Slavic hair (for straighter hair).
For younger ladies who want to experiment with a caramel hue but don’t want to completely dye their hair, why not go for a balayage look?
