Im A Celebs most awkward exit interviews from Freds mood to jungle crown drama

This year's series of I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! has brought just as many laughs and iconic moments as it always does and it's safe to say we're sad to see it come to an end.

When the celebs leave the jungle they swiftly join hosts Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly for their exit interview. Here they discuss their time in the jungle, any feuds they may have encountered and highlights while undertaking Bushtucker Trials.

Battling sleep deprivation and hunger, understandably the celebs aren't always feeling their best when they leave the jungle and sit down for their interview While many put on a brave face and seem delighted to be heading back to reality, sometimes we encounter some rather awkward moments.

As we wrap up this year's series of I'm a Celeb let's take a look back at some of the most awkward exit interviews, including Fred Sirieix's "mood" to crown drama.

Moody display

French maître d'hôtel, Fred Sirieix, 51 became the third contestant to exit the I'm A Celeb jungle during this series. It came following his disagreements with This Morning star Josie Gibson who became the camp chef, taking the reins from Fred, who was less than impressed.

But during his exit interview, things got even worse as Fred put on a noticeable moody display as he was pressed by hosts Ant and Dec about the cooking situation. "[Josie] doesn't know what she does in the kitchen, she's just making it up as she goes along", he reflected.

"I think there's a lot at stake with the food and it's not just what you're cooking at the moment, which, of course is going to be good because the produce here are incredible, it's what you can do the next day with the leftovers or the bones and how you're able to recycle everything".

Fred added: "You really need the calories and you've got to find them wherever you can. I think we missed out on quite a good few meals".

Crown drama

Back in 2016, viewers watched as Gogglebox star, Scarlett Moffatt, 33 became the Queen of the Jungle and was handed her crown by 2015 winner Vicky Pattison. During the last minutes of the final episode, Vicky awarded the crown and said to Scarlett "Well done gorgeous, come here – congratulations!"

The jungle crowing was hit with backlash from viewers who criticised the former Geordie Shore star for "plonking" the headgear on the new Jungle Queen. Vicky took to Twitter, now known as X, to defend herself and said producers told her to "be quick" in crowning Scarlett.

In a string of tweets, she wrote: "I adore Scarlett Moffatt and I'm proud of her win.

"Let’s not forget it was meant to be about Scarlett and not me", she added the hashtags #LONGLIVETHEQUEEN #geordietakeover.

Grillings

Politician Matt Hancock finished I'm A Celeb in third place last year, losing out the winning title to Lioness Jill Scott and Hollyoaks star Owen Warner. During his exit interview, the former health secretary recognised entering the jungle was "controversial" and spoke about his grilling.

He told Ant and Dec: "I know that it was controversial me coming here, I know some people said people in your position shouldn't put themselves in embarrassing situations. But we're all human and we all put ourselves in it.

"We've all got serious sides, but also a nicer side. I was just totally myself [in there] and I'm sorry for that", he continued. When quizzed about his campmate's frosty reaction to his arrival Matt said: "Some of those grillings were really really enjoyable and a release.

"I just went in absolutely clear I was going to be totally myself as if the cameras weren't on, and that's what I did – that's what I'm like".

'He's just a person'

Another shocking moment in I'm A Celeb history was when Boy George abruptly stopped his exit interview to speak about Matt Hancock. It came after the star had confessed in person to the MP that he had been "hating" on him during his time in the jungle.

But surprisingly he defended Matt when Ant and Dec questioned him about their relationship. George had offered Matt a truce and said: "In here, he’s just a person."

He was also seen hugging Matt before walking over the bridge to join Ant and Dec.

'Awkward'

Back when I'm A Celeb took place in a Wales castle due to the Covid pandemic restrictions, former Strictly Come Dancing pro AJ Pritchard made an "awkward" jibe at Shane Richie during his exit interview. It came after the pair had clashed on numerous occasions during their time on the show.

One feud saw AJ hit out at Shane by saying: "If you're gonna do a job, do it properly." When asked if it had made him frustrated, he replied: "Maybe, I'm not going to lie!"

"I can feel the awkwardness and tension just thinking about when they discuss and see why Shane kept getting voted", commented one viewer at the time.
