As a nation forever fed-up with grey skies and gale-force misery, the first flakes of winter snow can be yet another dismal incentive for Brits to stay indoors.
But the sheer joy of a Ugandan man experiencing snow for the first time will surely thaw at least some of those frost-bitten hearts.
Millions of delighted TikTok users have now watched Peter, joined by his wife Marie, witnessing their first snowfall in Canada earlier this year, and uploaded in October.
The pair’s love story began when they met in Uganda in November 2022, after chatting on Instagram for several months – before going on to apply for Peter’s visa the following month in December.
Following his visa approval, Peter moved to Canada to join his partner in June 2023, where the couple have since married and settled, with Peter going on to co-parent Marie’s daughter from a previous relationship.

Grinning, Peter narrated his experience and said: ‘What is going on this morning? Oh my God, I’m so so happy to see the snow my first time. This is the real snow.’
His wife Marie laughed alongside Peter and responded: ‘Real. Cannot be more real.’
Gently patting the bed of snow with his fingers, Peter joked: ‘Yes. Now, finally, I am in Canada. This is what we call Canada. It looks beautiful. It’s so white. Oh. Oh my God. I’m so happy.’
Stooping down to peer at the snow, Peter smiles before affirming: ‘Nice to meet you!’
Continuing to pat and play with the snow with his hands, Peter concluded: ‘It’s so soft.’
Peter then attempts to test the taste and texture of the icy snow by putting a small handful on his tongue, before spitting it out in shock at the cold.
