EXCLUSIVE: Global docs streamer MagellanTV has struck a multi-year output deal with French producer ZED, with Amazon Women Warriors leading off the pact today.
The agreement extends an existing production partnership between the two companies forged in 2016 that’s brought MagellanTV more than 20 titles, though a spokesperson called the new pact “more significant.”

Amazon Warrior Women will join MagellanTV today and will even be available to non-subscribers until Thursday, October 12. Produced by ZED and directed by Alexandra Barbot and Véronique Préault.
Synopsis reads: “Amazon warriors have long been considered legend but following recent discoveries in Europe and Asia – including decapitated women’s skeletons and the tomb of a woman surrounded by weapons – scholars are left wondering if there is any validity to the myth of these hard-fighting, horse-riding female fighters. Amazon Women Warriors follows international experts as they embark on an archaeological expedition to uncover the truth behind the mythical figures.”

“Our platform caters to those looking for content that goes beyond the surface and dives deep into different subjects,” said MagellanTV Managing Director Greg Diefenbach. “ZED specializes in producing high-quality documentaries that do just that. We’re excited to strengthen our long-standing partnership with the ZED team and to continue bringing their award-winning content to MagellanTV subscribers.”
MagellanTV, an ad-free streamer for factual content, recently set Wild Arabia as its latest original series. Sometimes billed as a ‘Netflix for documentaries,’ the SVoD service was co-founded by former Nat Geo TV exec Diefenbach and writer-director Thomas Lucas.
