Aldi shoppers are only just realising what the little shelf by the tills is for

If you do your weekly shop in Aldi, you will have walked past a nifty little shelf thousands of times after paying for your shop โ€“ but may not know what it was for.

Now, one content creator on social media has shared the knowledge online and it's blown people's mind. Tubz, known for his Cooking with Tubz page, shared a video explaining the Aldi checkout process works.

In the clip, Tubz went through the checkout as normal by put everything straight into his trolley instead of packing them. It turns out shoppers are meant to use the shelves on the other side of the checkout area to do this โ€“ and Tubz aptly names them "the packing shelf".

He went on to say: "Pack your items straight into your bags, which means you get out of the way quicker for the other customers, and then out of the door."

In the comments section, he added: "You can pack properly at the packing shelves and not rush which is what they are for." This revelation left many Aldi customers stunned, with a lot of people not actually using the shelves for their intended purpose.

One person grumbled: "No one does this now it drives me mad when people stand at the till and pack." Another echoed the same sentiment.

A third shared: "Yes!! And I feel much less pressure at the packing area with two little kids, instead of worrying that I'm holding up the whole queue."

Another chimed in: "I'm not putting it in the trolley, then on the belt, back in trolley, out again to pack it and then unpack at home! No thanks."

The news comes after the discount retailer debuted it's holiday promo for 2023 and shoppers were ecstatic to see the return of beloved cartoon veggie "Kevin the Carrot". The loveable mascot has became a festive favourite over the last few years.

Viewers have seen him go through a lot since he first emerged on our TV screens back in 2016 – including meeting Santa and marrying a female carrot named Katie. At one point, it was even feared that Aldi had "killed off" the veggie, leaving fans heartbroken.
