Susanna Reid reckons she sounds like fellow ITV presenter Holly Willoughby after a recent illness.
The 52-year-old was off sick from Good Morning Britain following the National Television Awards after she lost her voice.
Yesterday, Susanna took to social media with a message to her fans, as she said: ‘Quick update on my voice, which as you can hear is not 100%. I feel absolutely fine but the specialist that I saw on Friday said not to risk it until it is better.’
She continued to thank everyone at GMB for stepping in, and for viewers as they sent her ‘brilliant tips’ for strengthening her vocal cords.
‘I’ve been steaming and also doing ginger and lemon and honey and turmeric tea and drinking tons and tons of water,’ she said.
Back at work this morning, Susanna reflected how she had ‘no voice at all’ on Saturday evening – and she compared her raspy tone to Holly, also saying she sounds like a 20-a-day smoker.
‘You’re back, sounding great,’ said fellow presenter and former politician Ed Balls, 56.
‘Does it sound like I’ve been vaping? It sounds like I smoke 20 a day doesn’t it?’ replied Susanna.
Ed agreed, before saying it sounds ‘great’, as Susanna asked whether he meant, ‘Call line great?’ Err.
Muffling a laugh, Ed claimed ignorance. ‘I don’t know what you mean,’ he said.
‘I think I sound a bit like Holly,’ continued Susanna. ‘You know, she’s got that little catch in her voice which is so appealing.’

However, two days ago Susanna suggested she sounded like Holly ‘with bronchitis’.
The presenter also reflected how climate change-denying trolls were up in arms after she said the ‘hot weather’ could have affected her vocal cords.
But on seeing a specialist, Susanna revealed it could have been caused by not saying hydrated in the heat.
Susanna previously explained that she had attended the NTAs on Tuesday evening but said her croaky voice was a mystery as she was the first person to leave and doesn’t drink or smoke.
‘It’s funny because it was the NTAs last night and when I got in my cab to leave the driver said, “You’re the very first person to leave the NTAs. You’re obviously not partying,”’ she recalled.
‘And of course, I don’t drink, I don’t smoke. So there’s absolutely no reason I can understand. But I’ve completely lost my voice.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1.
