Sometimes, a gig comes along that gives you so much more than just a new line to add to your résumé. In some cases, you can become close, even BFFs and confidants, with a co-worker. Just ask Salma Hayek. The actress recently gushed about her friendship with one former co-star, and we’re kind of obsessed with this duo.
The Frida Oscar-nominee opened up about her bond with fellow actress and mom Angelina Jolie. Hayek told Entertainment Tonight that her friendship with Jolie means “everything” to her. “She’s been very, very enriching in my life, in so many ways — as mothers, you know. Most of all, as artists,” she told the outlet.
Hayek and Jolie have been working in Hollywood for decades. Most recently, the two co-starred in the 2021 Marvel movie Eternals. However, the women have worked behind-the-scenes as well. Hayek stars in Jolie’s forthcoming directorial feature Without Blood, which has yet to announce a release date. From working on set to chatting off screen, Hayek says her bond with Jolie is one “that keeps growing.”
It sounds like the friendship Jolie and Hayek share is one based not only on their creative and artistic pursuits, but also on their shared experiences. As time goes on, our friendships change. Sometimes the bonds we thought would last forever even come to an end after a season or two. Hayek’s recent comments on her friendship with Jolie are a true testament to the power of women championing one another.
