Strike won.
After nearly 150 days of striking, which effectively shut down all scripted movies and TV shows, Hollywood’s major film and TV studios have reached a tentative agreement with the Writers Guild of America. Terms of the deal are not known, but reports claim the writers got much of what they demanded.
Should the deal be ratified, as expected, it will officially end the second-longest writers strike in history. With their deal essentially done, writers are being encouraged to picket with the actors union, SAG-AFTRA, which has been on strike since mid-July. After the writers agreement was reached, Mark Ruffalo took to social media to applaud the deal. “Bravo!” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “WGA proves when we fight we win. #Unionize. Congratulations @WGAWest @WGAEast. #WGAStrike.”
