Japan-based premium denim brand EVISU has unveiled an exclusive Year of The Dragon capsule. The collection joins those of the past, like its Year of The Rabbit and Year of The Tiger-themed capsules, continuing its tradition of zodiac-themed drops that have become collector’s items.
Like drops of the past, this capsule features a denim jacket, limited to 400 pieces and a pair of jeans, limited to 500 pieces — further accentuating the exclusivity of the release.
The 2024 Chinese Lunar New Year, which celebrates the Dragon, inspired the exclusive design of this capsule. In Chinese mythology, the dragon is seen as a powerful symbol of good fortune, controlling the wind and rain. Similarly, in Japan, the dragon is revered as a water deity, signifying favorable weather and prosperity. The Year of The Dragon collection incorporates these cultural elements, with a design ethos that aims to bring good fortune to its wearers.
Additionally, the design draws inspiration from “Ryū Odori” and includes symbolic elements like the Daruma doll, used for making wishes and the Japanese kanji for “dragon.” The color scheme of red and gold represents the warding off of evil and the enhancement of prosperity and is combined with imagery of early cherry blossoms and the dragon.
Every pair of jeans and jacket comes in special packaging, including a wooden box adorned with embossed gold coin patterns and laser-engraved EVISU logos. Each of the commemorative jackets and jeans also includes unique identifiers that speak to their exclusivity, including a golden leather patch and distinct product code.
EVISU’s Year of The Dragon capsule is set to release on December 20, via the brand’s official site, with prices yet to be revealed at the time of writing.
