A new Doom game, Ghostwire: Tokyo 2, and a secret new licensed title were all planned at Bethesda before Microsoft bought them.
As if revealing their plans for a new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S (and a new controller) werenāt enough, the Federal Trade Commission has also managed to let slip Bethesdaās entire software line-up for the next several years.
Or at least it was their line-up, three years ago, before Microsoft bought them. Things may well have changed since then, so the information could be outdated now, although a lot of it still seems to match up with what is officially known.
There have already been rumours of a remaster of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion but not only is that mentioned in the leaked information but also a remaster of Fallout 3 from 2008 ā even if most people would probably rather see Obsidianās Fallout: New Vegas get the treatment first.
According to the leaked āmanagement forecastā the Oblivion remaster was originally due out already, sometime before April this year, while the Fallout 3 remaster was planned for the 2024 fiscal year, i.e. sometime before April 2024.
The Oblivion plan has obviously changed but the forecast also mentions a sequel to Ghostwire: Tokyo, which is very hard to imagine given how the original performed and how much better received Tango Gameworksā Hi-Fi Rush was.
Talk of a Dishonored 3 in 2024 also seems unlikely, since nothing has been heard of it so far, but given the failure of Redfall itās perhaps possible that developer Arkane is now planning to go back to its roots, with its most acclaimed series.
On the other hand, itās easy to imagine that id Software is planning a new Doom game, and itās only a surprise it hasnāt been announced yet, with the forecast indicating it was supposed to be out this year.
It refers to it as Doom Year Zero, which makes it sound like a prequel, and there were apparently plans for two sets of DLC ā one this year and one next.
Other projects mentioned in the forecast include the Indiana Jones game that MachineGames is known to be working on and which we still havenāt seen anything on ā even though it was originally supposed to be out last year.
As pointed out by The Verge, thereās also a reference to another unnamed ālicensed IP gameā, which could be anything, as well as Project Platinum and Project Kestrel (which had a planned expansion). Itās currently impossible to guess what these are or if they were cancelled once Microsoft took over.
Since all these plans were from so long ago, before Microsoft bought Bethesda parent company ZeniMax, none of them are guaranteed to still be valid. However, Microsoft has been purposefully hands off with Bethesda and itās likely the majority of these projects are still intended to come out, even if theyāve been pushed back a bit.
However, given how Microsoft has been with other Bethesda franchise itās almost certain that all of these games will end up as Xbox and PC exclusives.
