Alison Hammond has broken her silence on the outcome of the National Television Awards, after This Morning was booed and lost out on its daytime award for the first time in more than a decade.
The beloved TV presenter also lost out on the best TV presenter gong to Ant and Dec, as the duo retained their spot at the top, which they’ve held onto for more than 20 years.
In a post shared on Instagram, Alison shared a picture of her and her This Morning co-stars, including Holly Willoughby and Dr Scott Miller, taking a selfie from their VIP seats.
In her caption, the 48-year-old wrote: ‘What a night of happiness at the @officialntas with @thismorning , we had the best time.
‘Thanks so much for all your love support and votes and allowing us to be there . I’ll be honest it was so nice watching the whole show with @joeldommett in our seats.
‘Sometimes failing can be your biggest success 💕💕 well done to @therepairshoptv and @antanddec , you all totally deserved the Win 🏆.’
Alison received numerous messages of support underneath her Instagram post, with host Joel Dommett commenting with a row of heart emojis.
Several people wrote that while they’re fans of Ant and Dec, they feel that Alison should have walked away with the prize.
‘Love Ant and Dec but you should have won,’ one wrote, while another said: ‘I love Ant and Dec but I did vote for you… keep being you as you absolutely rock.’
Someone else shared: ‘Congratulations to you all, yes I wanted you to win but in my eyes you are always a winner.’

Alison couldn’t hide her disappointment at London’s O2 arena as Ant and Dec were announced as the winners, as she graciously applauded them for their victory.
As the pair paid tribute to her during their speech, she made a heart symbol with her hands as a show of love towards them.
When This Morning was mentoined by host Joel, members of the audience could be heard booing, amid others who cheered for the ITV programme.
Holly and Alison kept on smiling despite the mixed reaction to the show, with the former congratulating The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades when the BBC series beat This Morning in the daytime category.
The National Television Awards are available to watch on ITVX.
