Inside Michael Gambon’s life with Antiques Roadshow star son and younger partner

Sir Michael Gambon: Legendary actor dead aged 82

Sir Michael Gambon’s very colourful off-screen life has been reflected upon, after the legendary Harry Potter actor’s tragic death at the age of 82 was announced today.

The star has a renowned son, of Antiques Roadshow fame, and he also enjoyed a relationship with a woman 25 years his junior, leading to him becoming a father at 68.

The actor first tied the knot to mathematician Lady Anne Gambon at 22 and was fiercely protective of his privacy in those days, even asking one interviewer who probed him on his love life: “What wife?”

The marriage led to a son, Fergus Gambon, 59, who is highly renowned as a ceramics expert and has regularly appeared on the BBC series Antiques Roadshow.

However, Michael’s romance entered the spotlight once again almost 40 years after his first marriage, when he brought new flame Philippa Hart on set while filming the 2001 film Gosford Park.
