Daniel Craig, 55, is compared to an Antiques Roadshow presenter

Daniel Craig, 55, is compared to an Antiques Roadshow expert in hilarious fan memes as he looks worlds away from his 007 days with a ‘sexy professor’ look

Daniel Craig sent his fans completely wild as he debuted a very unexpected new look this week.

The Hollywood heartthrob, 55, is well-known for his suave 007 appearances and for showing off his muscular frame.

However, the James Bond actor looked strikingly different as he debuted a bold new look while discussing Omega’s Seamaster watch in a new video for Esquire.

He ditched his short hairstyle as he opted for a longer fringe and a side parting while he also wore a quirky pair of small, round glasses.

Fans could not help but take to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their hilarious reactions to Daniel’s ‘sexy professor’ new look.

Unexpected: Daniel Craig sent his fans completely wild as he debuted a very different new look, sporting longer hair and small round glasses

One fan compared his traditional new look to that of an Antiques Roadshow presenter, while another referred to it as his ‘sexy tenured history professor era’.

One person wrote: ‘Daniel Craig looks like he’s about to tell your Nan her ceramics are worthless on Antiques Roadshow.’

Another joked: ‘Ambassador Daniel von der Craig trying to decide if the EU is “concerned” or “deeply concerned”,’ and a third said: ‘Daniel Craig turning ya down for a mortgage for the second time.’

A fourth quipped: ‘Daniel Craig looks like he’s about to say the Eurovision votes have been counted and verified, and the winner can now be revealed.’

Daniel looked worlds away from his James Bond days as he appeared in a video to discuss the Omega watches he has worn over the years, including the Seamaster he sported in Casino Royale.

He continued to show off his striking look as he attended Omega’s Planet Omega exhibition in New York City this week.

His bold new look comes after it was revealed that Daniel could be facing a fresh battle over plans to extend his £6million London home.

Craig and his Oscar-winning actress wife Rachel Weisz won their fight to keep a 65ft tree at their historic townhouse after residents claimed it was causing subsidence.

In a design statement, the couple’s planning agent said: ‘The proposed new extension would replace an existing late 20th Century conservatory which is poorly constructed, inefficient (it is very cold in the winter and overheats in the summer) and out of keeping with the original building.

Now, they want to demolish a ‘poorly-constructed’ conservatory and build a bigger rear extension with a balcony above, and carry out a Ground Force-style garden revamp.

But they could face another battle with planners and neighbours as their terraced home, which dates back to 1840, is Grade II listed and lies in a designated conservation area.

The couple want to move the kitchen from the front to the back of the property and carry out internal alterations including widening the opening in the lower ground floor rear wall.

They also want to split the ground floor double reception room into two and install a bigger first floor rear window at their five-bedroom home.

‘This would mean that the least successful part of the existing building (in terms of materials, form and proportion) could be re-cast so that it is elevated to a quality equal to the rest of the property.

‘The enlarged extension allows the kitchen (the busiest room in the house) to be relocated to the rear of the property, giving it direct contact with the garden and much improved natural light.

‘On the ground floor it is proposed to reinstate the wall between the two reception rooms to create a formal sitting room and separate TV room.

‘On the ground floor closet wing, the existing study would be subdivided to allow the provision of a guest WC on the stair landing between the ground floor and lower ground floor.’

The agent added: ‘Elsewhere, the majority of the existing building fabric will be left untouched by the proposed scheme.

‘The reconfigured accommodation resulting from this proposal would improve the balance of the main living areas of the house. Overall, the impact of the subject property and its surroundings would be positive.’

The couple, who tied the knot in 2011, bought the pad in 2008 for £3.2million but it is now believed to be worth £6million.

It has a basement kitchen, conservatory, utility room, bedroom and bathroom with a double reception room and study on the ground floor.

There is a master bedroom, dressing room and bathroom on the first floor and three further bedrooms and two bathrooms on the second floor.

In 2010, the couple were given the go-ahead for first floor internal alterations including reconfiguration of the layout and relocating two internal doors.

They were also granted planning permission to move an existing bathroom to the rear and remove a partition wall separating the master bedroom and bathroom.

The couple have now formally applied to the council for a single storey rear extension and internal works at lower ground to first floor levels with a first floor rear balcony.

There have so far been no objections from neighbours but in a separate planning application, Craig also wants to chop down a bay tree as part of plans for a garden makeover including more tree planting.

But in a letter to the council, neighbour Colin Jacobson wrote: ‘My concerns are to ensure that the falling of this tree and associated garden developments should not have any adverse effects on the two magnificent plane trees at the rear of the site.

‘These trees have been an integral part of my family’s life and experience as well as providing vital oxygenation in this notoriously traffic polluted area.

Couple: Daniel and Rachel (pictured in November 2015), who tied the knot in 2011, bought the pad in 2008 for £3.2million but it is now believed to be worth £6million

‘I therefore urge tree department to be extremely vigilant in ensuring the long term survival of these trees in this and any future similar applications.

‘It would also be encouraging to receive reassurances from the applicants that they too value the plane trees and will do everything they can to protect and nurture them.’

Officials at the council are expected to make a decision later this year and there have so far been no objections from neighbours.

If permission is granted, building work is set to start next April and will be completed in July.
