Talk show host Oprah Winfrey has admitted to taking a weight loss drug as she opened up about years of public body shaming.

The 69 year old said it 'hurts' that her body has been 'made fun of' for 25 years, and described how she was called 'lumpy' in a magazine.

The star revealed that she is now on a weight loss journey and confessed to using a "medically approved prescription" alongside exercise and diet to shed the pounds more quickly.

Oprah said that she has had to work on feeling a sense of ‘shame’ over using the “tool” after years of fluctuating weight.

The presenter didn’t admit to exactly which drug she is using, but many A-listers have admitted to using Ozempic and Monjourno to lose weight.

She told People: "The fact that there's a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for. I’m absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself."

Oprah also explained that her opinion on weight loss drugs changed after she discussed the topic with medical experts on Oprah Daily’s Life You Want series.

She added that most of her stigma against drug use went away when she started to see obesity as a "disease" and not something related to a person's "willpower".

The TV producer said she is using the drug alongside a new healthier lifestyle which includes hiking and working on getting stronger and more fit. She is also working on her diet by eating her last meal by 4pm every day and staying hydrated with at least a gallon of water.

The star also counts her WeightWatchers points as a way of staying on top of her goals. She revealed that she started taking the prescription medication just before Thanksgiving and credits it with allowing her to gain less weight during the festive season than she usually would.

The TV personality added that her weight loss journey is a "second shot for [her] to live a more vital and vibrant life" as she added that she won’t be obsessing over the numbers on the scale.

It comes as Sharon Osbourne also opened up about using Ozempic to shed two stone in four months.

During an appearance on Bill Maher's Club Random podcast, she opened up about how she took the semaglutide injection, which lowers blood sugar by helping the pancreas make more insulin.

Sharon said: “You have a weight loss problem and you've tried everything and then somebody says take this injection and you're going to be skinny."

The former X Factor judge added that Ozempic suppressed her appetite and even after stopping the injections, any hunger was still at bay.
