<\/p>\nCHANNEL 4 viewers have threatened to boycott the 'tone deaf and irresponsible' series Fur Babies. <\/p>\n
The commercial network previously commissioned the four-part documentary series last year. <\/p>\n

The Channel 4 factual series follows pet owners of the UK as they go through the pregnancy and birth of their pets.<\/p>\n
Vets James Greenwood and Bolu Eso are on hand as they use the latest in technology and their expert skills to help owners through the process.<\/p>\n
When Fur Babies was first announced, James Greenwood said: "Pet pregnancy is not always an easy road. <\/p>\n
"We want to highlight the ups and downs of pet pregnancies and show how important it is for families that are thinking of breeding their pets to do so under the guidance and support of their vets, as we\u2019ve seen first-hand the upsetting consequences of unscrupulous pet breeding over the past few years.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bolu Esu added: "It\u2019s exciting to be part of a programme that\u2019s focusing on the nuances of pet ownership and here we are first hand, able to showcase the marvel of pet pregnancies but also demonstrate all the factors that contribute to breeding our pets responsibly."<\/p>\n However, many fans were not happy with the tone of the programme as they suggested it is 'tone deaf'.<\/p>\n Viewers accused the show of 'promoting breeding' at a time of year where 'animal shelters are bursting'. <\/p>\n They took to X – formerly known as Twitter – in their droves as some users even went as far as to tag animal charities such as PETA, Dogs Trust, Cats Protection and the RSPCA. <\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n One user fumed: "How tone-deaf of @Channel4 to host a show about breeding cats and dogs, particularly at this time of year when rescue centres are overrun with abandoned pets. #furbabies."<\/p>\n A second raged: "I cannot believe @Channel4 have for real made this show #FurBabies promoting animal breeding when rehoming centres are literally busting at the seams with unwanted pets. Disgraceful to be promoting breeding in a CoL crisis too." <\/p>\n "I really don't know how I feel about #furbabies on A fourth explained: "This is morally wrong. If you\u2019re so hellbent on having another female dog, go and adopt one of the thousands currently in shelters. Forcing a 2y\/o Lab to have a second litter, eight of which are surplus to requirements, is highly irresponsible.<\/p>\n And a fifth fan added: "Everyone outraged about this awful program #FurBabies please take a few minutes to submit a complaint about the negative repercussions of this and the awful sense of timing."<\/p>\n They also posted a link where they even encouraged other like-minded viewers to write into the network to complain.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/newspress-collage-cmzrmxxi2-1701793837141.jpg\")
