Three years on since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially stepped down from life in the royal family to enjoy a private life, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have expressed a desire for their “normal life to be captured by cameras”.

The couple, who were spotted trick or treating with their young children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet on Tuesday, were keen to get into the Halloween spirit as they collected candy from their neighbours in Montecito, California.

For the occasion, Archie had dressed as a spooky skeleton as he held his father’s hand, with Meghan herself spotted carrying daughter Lilibet, who was sporting an adorable pink costume.

The public display of American normality was widely circulated online on social media, and it has now been revealed that the Californian-based family want a "normal family life to be captured by cameras" despite having previously asked for privacy.

PR Strategist and Mentor at PR with Perkes, Laura Perkes, weighed in on the clip during an interview with The Mirror, as she told the publication that there may have been more of a reason behind the sweet family display than fans had originally noticed.

She explained: "It may be that they wanted to create a family tradition, taking Archie and Lilibet trick or treating, to show that they're 'just a normal family' doing normal things, but to me it feels like a PR stunt in disguise.

Laura then continued: ”It’s the image they want to portray. The reason they stepped down as working Royals was to have more freedom away from the scrutiny of the media eye, yet they want their 'normal family life' captured by photographers, no doubt to achieve more positive publicity.”

Interestingly, the PR strategist also weighed in on how the behaviour differed from Harry’s persona on social media in the past, as Laura even went on to praise Harry for promoting discussions about mental health and of course his work with veterans in the Invictus Games.

Describing the new stance as “sad”, Laura went on to condemn, the royal for using his celebrity status to “ boost his own personal image and reputation” rather than promoting noble causes as he had done previously.

This, she suggested, had lead more companies to be “wary” of working with the couple, as they had squandered a clear “opportunity to do so much more.”
