Richard Madeley has been slammed by Good Morning Britain viewers who accused him of being "insensitive" when he questioned a grieving man from Gaza.

Wednesday's instalment (1 November) of the ITV show saw the presenter speaking to Ahmed Alnaouq, who lost 21 relatives including his dad, brothers and sisters after his home was bombed. He also lost several nieces and nephews.

After hearing how many losses he had suffered, Richard asked: "How close were you to your brothers? Were they older than you or younger than you?" Ahmed replied to say they had been very close, and Richard pointed out that they must have been "a big feature" in his life.

"Of course," Ahmed replied. "We grew up together. We lived all of our life together. I lived in Gaza all of my life until I came here to the UK."

Richard's line of questioning did not go down well with many viewers, who suggested it wasn't particularly sensitive. Many flocked to social media to share their thoughts.

One posted on X, formerly Twitter: "#GMB this guy has just said he’s lost two brothers in the conflict in Israel and Gaza… do you know what Richard Madeley asked him straight after 'How close were you to your brothers?' I don’t understand what he wanted from that question."

"I couldn’t believe just how incredibly insensitive he was," said another. "Who asked someone who lost almost all his family if he was close to them?" asked another viewer. "I'm infuriated right now," they added.

Someone else said it was "embarrassing". "Madeley just shush," posted someone else. Another viewer asked: "Do you think you could have a word with Madeley please, he seems completely lacking in compassion and empathy."

One viewer said it was "totally inappropriate questioning". Another accused the TV star of failing to show "one ounce of sensitivity".
