Following their collaboration last year, PINKFLAMINGOUSA and PRIX have come together once again for yet another capsule collection. The union between the multi-hyphenate team known for documenting Atlanta\u2019s raw and unseen moments found within the street and music scene, and Esther Ng’s ever-evolving label has now developed a deep dive into the origins of drift culture popular in Japan.<\/p>\n
The special range builds on the first collaboration’s homage to Atlanta\u2019s stunt scene, highlighting the underground street racing realm of Japan.<\/p>\n
The PINKFLAMINGOUSA x PRIX Fall\/Winter 2023 capsule collection sees Esther Ng and PINKFLAMINGOUSA head Chris Phan draw from their shared childhood of playing Need For Speed<\/em>, Forza<\/em>, and Gran Turismo<\/em>, along with enjoying Initial D<\/em>. Influences from the media serve to inform the design of the range comprised of a racing jacket and pant set, hoodie, and T-shirt.<\/p>\n Standouts include the TWO TONE ZIP-UP HOODIE, “Inspired by my favorite piece of clothing, my vintage NISMO shrunken hoodie I bought around the same time i picked up my GTR, I wanted to bring the same paneling and 90s feel fitted for men. The back references our stunt car\u2019s banners; our giant PRIX and PINKFLAMINGOUSA vinyl under, and the Japanese flag embroidery is to pay homage to the roots of the street scene we love so much,” shared Esther Ng.<\/p>\n Along with the TONNDERU T-SHIRT, “I met Tonnderu randomly at a Thai restaurant in Shibuya earlier this year and after bringing up the cars we drove, he offered to take us to Daikoku. He picked us up in his blacked-out S15 and that was kind of the first experience I\u2019d ever had in Japan in regard to the car scene. It was like Christmas. I wanted to reference not only his Silvia who showed me around the Tokyo car scene but also highlight the SR20- I\u2019m obsessed with JDM manual books, mostly the technical drawings and the educational aspect of them, and wanted to bring that to the table as well. We also went with a screen print using the negative space of the shirt as the base of the car- funnily enough every time I\u2019d run into Tonnderu he\u2019d be in a plain black shirt like a cartoon character.”<\/p>\n Check out the range above and look for the PINKFLAMINGOUSA x PRIX FW23 capsule collection to be released on PRIX’s website November 8, 2 p.m. EDT.
