Henson, and more also honored the actor on social media.<\/h2>\n<p>Celebrities are paying tribute to <em>Shaft<\/em> star Richard Roundtree, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 81.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, <strong>TMZ<\/strong><strong> <\/strong>reported that the actor &#8212; best known for starring as detective John Shaft in 1971&#8217;s Shaft and four sequels &#8212; had died in his home in Los Angeles following a battle with pancreatic cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Following the news of his passing, stars took to social media to honor Roundtree.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.toofab.com\/image\/aa\/5by4\/2023\/10\/25\/aa9affeb5c34497cb8a22ba480f181fc_xs.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" class=\"img-fluid article-block__img-fluid\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>            Brian Austin Green Slams DWTS for Not Inviting Fianc\u00e9e Sharna Burgess to Len Goodman Tribute          <\/h4>\n<p><strong>Samuel L. Jackson<\/strong> &#8212; who starred alongside Roundtree as John Shaft&#8217;s nephew in 2000&#8217;s <em>Shaft <\/em>and the 2019 sequel &#8212; posted a heartfelt tribute to Roundtree on Instagram, sharing a photo from 2019&#8217;s <em>Shaft<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Richard Roundtree, The Prototype, The Best To Ever Do It!!&#8221; Jackson captioned his post. &#8220;SHAFT, as we know it is &amp; will always be His Creation!! Henson<\/strong>, shared a photo of herself and Roundtree from the 2019 film on Instagram. She captioned the post, &#8220;Rest in paradise #RichardRoundtree the original #Shaft. \ud83d\udd4a\ufe0f\ud83d\udc9c\ud83d\ude4f\ud83c\udffe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <em>Abbott Elementary<\/em> star <strong>Sheryl Lee Ralph<\/strong> reacted to Roundtree&#8217;s passing on X, writing, &#8220;When I was a teenager I use to dream about growing up to meet Richard Roundtree. I did and what a wonderful human being.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Comedian <strong>Loni Love<\/strong> also honored Roundtree on X. &#8220;Sad to hear of the passing of Richard Roundtree.. He was fabulous as John Shaft at a time when there were few leading Black men in film,&#8221; she wrote. &#8220;He put the sexy and cool in being a detective. Rest well.
