High street health and beauty retailer Boots is closing two of its stores today, with its Uppingham Road, Leicester, and Glastonbury locations shutting for good.<\/p>\n
The pharmacy giant plans to reduce the number of stores from 2,200 to 1,900 in a move bosses believe will help \u201cconsolidate the business\u201d.<\/p>\n
The two stores shutting their doors on October 13 are the Uppingham Road, Leicester, and Glastonbury locations. Staff affected by the closures have been offered \u201calternative roles\u201d at other stores, according to a Boots spokesperson.<\/p>\n
With the closure of two premises today, it takes the total number of Boots closures in October to four – with two more shops (Kings Square, York and Warminster) set to shut on October 28.<\/p>\n
Closures are expected to continue into 2024.<\/p>\n

More info<\/p>\n Popular high street coffee shop Costa Coffee has closed eight branches this year, with the anticipated closure of its Church Street, Malvern store in November taking the total closures for 2023 to nine.<\/p>\n Frozen food chain Iceland has also axed a number of its locations – 15 so far in 2023. The Huddersfield store is set to take that total to 16 when it closes its doors for good on October 28.<\/p>\n However, B&M is bucking the trend of store closures. The variety retailer is set to open seven new stores before the end of the year in addition to relocating its Gateshead branch after closing the Westmorland Retail Park store\u00a0on November 4.<\/p>\nBoots locations already closed in 2023:<\/h3>\n
