Ahead of Paris Fashion Week, Pharrell Williams had a book signing this past weekend in one of the French capital’s hottest cocktail bars, Cravan. The event was held for his upcoming monograph dedicated to his collection of custom-made jewels.<\/p>\n
Set to be published by Rizzoli New York later this week, the book titled Pharrell: Carbon, Pressure & Time: A Book of Jewels<\/em> acts as a personal catalog for what the multi-hyphenate once called “a costly habit” of his. In attendance at Cravan was Ambush designer Yoon Ahn alongside the Colette founder Sarah Andelman who came out to support the Louis Vuitton creative director. Others include French che Jean Imbert as well as artist Dev Hynes and Olympic, World and European fencing champion Enzo Lefort.<\/p>\n Throughout the book, Williams highlighted 100 plus of his custom pieces that range from bejeweled “unauthorized” Casio G-Shock watches to the iconic gem-riddled N.E.R.D Brain pendants created in collaboration with Louis Vuitton and Jacob & Co. in 2008. The book chronicles the importance of jewelry to the “Happy” singer. Rizzoli’s editor Ian Luna said of the book that it is “the first monograph of a connoisseur of the [hip-hop jewelry] space, on an individual creator within [it]. Like everything else that he\u2019s done, you know, [Williams] has innovated within this fashion space. Cuban links with diamonds, the use of color on pendants, the use of both natural and engineered diamonds to create color and texture…” The book also features conversations in tandem with Kenzo creative director NIGO, as well as Ahn and Verbal of Ambush, with jewelers Lorraine Schwartz and Jacob Arabo and even with Tiffany & Co. executive vice president Alexandre Arnault.<\/p>\n Pharrell: Carbon, Pressure & Time: A Book of Jewels<\/em> is now available on Rizzoli. <\/p>\n
