Hollywood\u2019s crippling strikes are set to really hit home, with studios running out of new films and TV shows by Christmas.<\/p>\n
One senior Hollywood executive warned of an \u201cabsolute collapse\u201d of the industry.<\/p>\n
Production is at a standstill on virtually all scripted movies, drama series, sitcoms and chat shows.<\/p>\n
It has left viewers worldwide facing a blackout of their favourite shows.<\/p>\n
New seasons of television hits \u2013 including Yellowjackets, Stranger Things, Family Guy, The Handmaid\u2019s Tale and Abbott Elementary \u2013 are all on indefinite hold.<\/p>\n
Game Of Thrones fans also face frustration over long-awaited HBO prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight.<\/p>\n

Even movies finished before screenwriters went on strike four months ago \u2013 followed in mid-July by 165,000 members of actors\u2019 union SAG-AFTRA \u2013 have seen release dates pushed back to not inflame the dispute.<\/p>\n Poor Things, a surreal sci-fi fantasy starring Emma Stone, was originally slated for release in the UK this Friday but will now not hit cinemas until January.<\/p>\n And last Wednesday, Challengers \u2013 a much-vaunted sports romance starring Zendaya \u2013 was pulled as the opening attraction at the annual Venice Film Festival and will now premiere in April.<\/p>\n A senior studio production source said: \u201cThe whole entertainment industry is in turmoil.<\/p>\n Don’t miss… <\/strong> <\/p>\n We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. More info<\/p>\n \u201cBut the bottom line for viewers is they\u2019re about to start noticing their favourite shows aren\u2019t returning to TV.<\/p>\n \u201cBy Christmas, I\u2019m afraid fresh pickings are going to be slim to non-existent.\u201d<\/p>\n Barry Diller, a former CEO at 20th Century Fox and Paramount Pictures, warned: \u201cIf it doesn\u2019t get resolved until Christmas or later, there will simply not be as many programmes made next year and subscriptions will get pulled.<\/p>\n \u201cThat would result in less money for the movie and television studios to invest in further offerings. This will actually have devastating effects if it is not settled soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
