Vernon Kay opens up about This Mornings pay package while working Bank Holiday

Vernon Kay made a joke that he would be receiving “quadruple pay” for stepping in to work on Bank Holiday Monday for This Morning.

The presenter, 48, took over presenting duties for yesterday’s show, alongside the former Saturdays singer, Rochelle Humes, 33.

Vernon and Rochelle have been filling in for regular presenting pair, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, during the summer holidays.

While it’s not known how much the former are paid, Vernon made a cheeky quip on yesterday’s show about his pay rate while working on This Morning during a Bank Holiday.

While cookery expert Clodagh McKenna rustled up some chicken for the duo, Rochelle said that presenting the show “wasn't work, just so you know", before Vernon chimed in with: "Quadruple pay and chicken."

Rochelle joked: "Oh, it's gone up has it?" with Vernon joking: "Absolutely."

Vernon also made further comments about his and Rochelle’s salary, at one point saying that it was five times their usual rate.

The show’s main hosts, Holly and Phil, are thought to be on a sizeable sum.

The pair host the show from Monday to Thursday, with Phillip, 60, revealed as ITV's This Morning 's highest earner in the year up to February 2021.

Figures showed that he raked in almost £1 million from his various ventures, despite the pandemic.

Holly Willoughby’s, 41, venture Roxy Media Ltd's equity documented at £1,535,218 in the same timeframe.

She also launched her own wellness site, Wylde Moon, last year.

The brand, not unlike Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop, was founded almost a year ago, in September 2021, retailing jewellery, crystals and diffusers, alongside beauty and spiritual recommendations.

According to the website, "the pillars of Wylde Moon are about having a true sense of self; igniting your intuition, knowing your self-worth and nourishing your body and soul through music, food, laughter, sex, passion, beautiful things, or all of the above."
