Filming commenced on the three-part miniseries in late 2021, meaning there is still a potentially long wait before the programme airs.

Who is in the cast of The Control Room?

Leading the cast are Agents of SHIELD’s Iain de Caestecker and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’s Joanna Vanderham.

Caestecker will be playing Gabe, the man working from the emergency control room, while Vanderham is the mysterious caller.

Upon confirmation of their involvement, Caestecker spoke to the BBC, saying: “The Control Room is one of the most exciting scripts I’ve ever read, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time so I’m thrilled to now be bringing it to life.

“I’ve always loved working with the BBC and am especially delighted to be filming alongside this fantastic cast and crew in my hometown of Glasgow.”

Vanderham added: “I am so excited for the opportunity to bring Nick Leather’s incredibly complex characters to life.

“Filming in my home country of Scotland is always special and my research for the character means I’ve been reminiscing about my own adolescence.

“The BBC create some of the best global programming there is, and Amy Neil is going to add The Control Room to their exceptional catalogue. I can’t wait for people to see what we do!”

Rounding out the confirmed cast is Game of Thrones’ Daniel Portman, Line of Duty’s Taj Atwal, Bodyguard’s Stuart Bowman, and Finding Alice’s Sharon Rooney.

Is there a trailer for The Control Room?

No, as filming only recently began, there could be a significant wait before the BBC releases the first trailer. 

Filming will need to complete first, with the network not confirming if the bulk of the principal photography is finished. 

The earliest viewers should expect a trailer is in the Spring, though it will likely be later than this.

The BBC may choose to release a teaser that could reveal the title and tone, lacking any footage, so this could drop at any point.

What is the plot of The Control Room?

The main plot will follow Gabe as he works in an emergency call control room.

During one less-than-typical shift, he receives a call from someone that appears to know him. 

The call results in a life-or-death situation, one in which Gabe must make the right decisions to help the woman on the other end of the line.

He will do this all while trying to figure out her identity and how she knows him.

The Control Room will premiere on the BBC and BBC iPlayer in 2022.
