Strictly 2021s hidden mic recordings – I love you, knickers and sweet nicknames

As a sensational series of Strictly Come Dancing draws to a close, fans are already experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

With the standard higher than ever this year and the show's first ever deaf contestant and also the first same-sex male pairing making it to the final, 2021 was a year to remember.

One of the most fun elements for fans has been the weekly release of the 'hidden' microphone recordings by the show. These pick up what each dance pairing is saying as they hit the ballroom.

It's been a revelation to learn just how much talking goes on while Dave Arch and his wonderful orchestra are doing their thing.

Here's some of the highlights…

Nikita and Tilly

Nikita Kuzmin was heard comparing Tilly Ramsay to Shakira during their final dance – a saucy samba.

There was also plenty of encouragement and 'woos' as the pair grinned and looked like they were having the time of their life.

(This was also the infamous dance where Nikita whipped his shirt off).

After their waltz earlier in the series, Nikita was bizarrely heard saying he had "an aggressive rub."

Giovanni and Rose

After their inspiring and groundbreaking couple's choice dance to Symphony by Clean Bandit, Rose could be seen giving Giovanni a hug as they caught their breath after the energetic number, which scored an incredible 39 overall.

Giovanni sweetly told her: "I love you."

The dancer was also heard saying "beautiful" to Rose as she performed the dance, and fans have also seen Giovanni share kisses on the cheek with the EastEnders star.

Fans have been begged for the pair to get together after spotting their sizzling chemistry, but it seems the stars are just friends.

Neil and Nina

EastEnders star Nina Wadia and Neil Jones were the first to be booted off, but not before Neil's bizarre instructions were captured on the audio.

Dancing the Samba, he made up names to remind Nadia of the steps, including "grab the rope", "tabletop" and "grannies' knickers".

He also told her to "kick me," but sadly it wasn't enough to keep them in the show.

John and Johannes

Apart from Johannes Radebe's 'ka ka ka' noises, the pair also captured fans' imaginations early on when they started a routine with Johannes saying: "How are you mate? Are you well? Oh that is a tune!"

John replied: "I'm going to show you how, I'm going to show you how to dance."

John also joked: "What a show off" as Johannes leaped on the dance floor, before asking him to "Chase me through the forest."

AJ and Kai

These two have caused the most excitement thanks to their audio revelations. Early in the series they danced an American Smooth inspired by The Bodyguard.

Kai was heard telling AJ: "I love you so much."

During their quickstep, Kai was captured saying to AJ "You ledge. Oh, you beauty! Well done. Well done, darling."

"Well, well done," he repeated.
