There’s a major blast from the past for Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) in Coronation Street after Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) returns to Weatherfield unannounced, years after abandoning him and their daughter Summer Spellman (Matilda Freeman).
Having stolen from his gangster ex, Mick, Todd return to tell Eileen (Sue Cleaver) that he was in a world of trouble and it ended up in a tense showdown involving guns. But when Eileen decides to intervene and stand up to Mick, events take another turn – but she eventually manages to orchestrate it so that Todd emerges from hiding.
Meanwhile, with Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) having heard voices in the attic, she insists Billy performs a séance as she is convinced that Pat Phelan is haunting the house.
But when it’s Todd who emerges from ‘the dead’, Billy is incandescent at his ex for abandoning them and making Summer believe him to be dead. When Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) arrives on the scene, Todd instantly spies an opportunity to stir trouble – surprise, surprise!
Billy assures Paul that he loves him with all his heart – Todd’s bad news and he’s well rid.
But Todd isn’t planning on going anywhere and soon has a spring in his step that he can now wander about alive.
Despite Eileen’s warning that a lot of folk won’t be pleased to see him back, Todd heads out with a spring in his step.
Billy meanwhile confides in Paul that he’s getting cold feet about the archdeacon position. Paul worries he’s changed his mind because Todd is back on the scene.
Todd takes great delight in winding Paul up. Billy implores Todd to stop causing trouble but when Todd admits he still has feelings for him how will Billy react?
Could there be a reunion on the cards for them both – and, if so, where will that leave Paul?
