Shona's exit story and date confirmed in Corrie as Julia Goulding leaves

Following the news Julia Goulding has given birth to her second child, Coronation Street fans have been aware an exit for her character, Shona Platt, would soon be on the way.

Julia, who is already mum to son Franklin Wolf, revealed back in November that she and husband Ben Silver have welcomed a baby girl, who they’ve named Emmeline Beanie Silver.

‘On Saturday our little girl arrived,’ the soap star shared on Instagram, alongside a picture of her and Ben leaving the hospital with their newborn.

‘We’re absolutely elated and Franklin is besotted with his little sister, Emmeline Beanie Silver. She’s perfect.’

Initially, fans began to wonder whether Shona may end up being Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) next victim but tonight, her departure story was confirmed.

Aspiring footballer Lily (Brooke Malonie) was given the huge opportunity to head to London at the end of the week, for a six-week training course at a professional ground.

It was a wonderful moment for the young girl, and with Jack P Shepherd previously dropping a hint about Julia’s exit, we can safely say that Shona will leave Weatherfield to look after Lily as she hopes to become the next Jill Scott.
