Rainie Branning (Tanya Franks) hasn’t had the easiest of years in EastEnders — what with husband Max (Jake Wood) having proven he’s incapable of remaining faithful to her — but after a shocking kidnap twist saw her upping sticks and leave with baby Abi, she finds herself in hot water — and is forced to take drastic action.
After learning that Rainie’s done a bunk with baby Abi, Ian (Adam Woodyatt) is adamant that the police must be notified of her actions. Max and Jack (Scott Maslen) disagree and suggest alternative ways of handling the situation, but Ian quickly grows tired of their excuses. As a result, he takes it upon himself to get in touch with Rainie — which seemingly makes matters a whole lot worse.
With emotions running high, Ian apologises for rash behaviour and, as the three men show a united front, they receive a text message from Rainie, confirming that she’s willing to meet them tomorrow at Joanna’s cafe.
The day of the rendezvous arrives, and Max and Ian await Rainie’s arrival. However, they get more than they bargained for when Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ) joins them.
Stuart’s presence at the cafe is a decoy designed to keep them distracted, as Rainie secretly arrives at the Branning household in order to collect one of Abi’s favourite toys. However, unbeknownst to Rainie, Jack hadn’t gone to the cafe with Ian and Max, so he catches her red-handed!
Unable to risk the consequences of her recent actions, Rainie is forced to resort to drastic measures to ensure her escape — but just how far will she go?
What’s more, will Max and Ian work out that Stuart is nothing more than a distraction? If so, will they manage to get back home in time to stop Rainie from fleeing once more?
