MARINA dropped The Diamonds in 2019 to just be known as Marina, now she’s got rid of her boyfriend.
I can reveal the pop star and her partner, Clean Bandit's Jack Patterson, have broken up after five years together.
The pair — who have 18 Top 40 hits between them — started dating at the beginning of 2016 after recording their collaboration Disconnect. They went on to to release a second track, Baby.
But they have sadly called it quits and there is little chance of a reconciliation as they are now living on opposite sides of the Atlantic, with Marina setting up home in Los Angeles.
A source said: “Marina and Jack aren’t together any more and it’s not been easy for either of them.
“They were such important parts of each others’ lives and friends thought they were perfect together. No one would have been surprised if he had popped the question.
“They had been living together in London and had a lovely life but I think the lockdown really made them both re-evaluate what they want.
“Things are over now and Marina is spending most of her time in LA. Jack is still in London because of his commitments to Clean Bandit, so they haven’t seen much of each other.”
Marina has spent the past year working on her fifth solo album, while Jack has been making his third Clean Bandit record alongside bandmates Grace Chatto and Luke Patterson.
The trio put out their latest song, Higher, with US rapper Iann Dior, on Friday and they are aiming to have the follow-up to their 2018 album What Is Love? ready for release this year.
Grace told me: “We’ve been quite obsessed with Higher for the past few months so there are still songs waiting for singers, but we do have a couple of really exciting collaborations which are top secret at the moment.
“We’re finishing our third album so that’s really our priority and, thankfully we are able to continue doing that in spite of every- thing.
“We need to get our skates on but we’d love to release the album this year.”
That will be a welcome distraction for Jack.
Red hot Zara is in 'toon
ZARA Larsson dressed like cartoon character Jessica Rabbit for an awards bash at the weekend.
The Lush Life singer arrived at the Don’t Stop The Music fund-raising gala in her native Sweden in a red coat, then took it off to reveal an eye-catching red side-slit frock.
With her blonde hair in a wet-look ’do, she performed a cover of Hooked On A Feeling by Seventies Swedish rockers Blue Swede.
With her third album Poster Girl due out next month, she will have her own new tunes to sing next time she’s on stage.
Emma: Kim and join us
EMMA Bunton has invited Kim Kardashian to join the Spice Girls – and judging by the reality star’s dodgy singing voice, she will fit right in.
It follows the reality star wearing her hair in pigtails for the Instagram snap and her caption, “Baby Spice” – which caught the attention of the real one.
On her Sunday evening show on Heart, Emma said: “Kim, I was thinking, OK so this year it’s the Spice Girls’ 25th anniversary and we definitely can’t have two Baby Spices in the band.
"I’m afraid not, but I’m sure that the girls wouldn’t mind you joining.
“Hey? Let me know, and I’ll add you to the WhatsApp group.”
The Spice Girls aren’t the only ones marking an anniversary, as this year it is a decade since Kim’s only single release Jam (Turn It Up) which, unsurprisingly, failed to crack the charts.
Unlike the Spice Girls’ milestone, hers really isn’t worth celebrating.
Crop of the pops
ALESHA Dixon hasn’t lost her dancing mojo. The Britain’s Got Talent judge wore this multi-coloured crop top to boogie in a video by rapper Meek Mill and singer Leslie Grace for rum brand Bacardi.
It teamed influencers with members of the public busting moves. They must be saving the clip of my dad dancing for the extended version . . .
Jord’s blast
RADIO 1’s Jordan North has slated commercial rival Capital, claiming it plays the same handful of songs on repeat.
After a listener texted into his show at the weekend saying they’d be changing to his competition, Jordan hit back: “If you want to listen to the same four songs in a row and adverts every five minutes, crack on, son.”
The I’m A Celeb finalist briefly worked at Capital Manchester a decade ago and landed his Radio 1 show in 2018.
He accused his old station of trying to suck the charisma from the presenters, joking: “‘What we’re going to do is we’re going to take your personality and we’re going to turn it into a robot and we want you to talk like this . . . ’”
He’s not wrong.
Gary's movie blues
LOCKDOWN has us all feeling a bit emotional but Gary Barlow is a blubbering mess.
The Take That star has been in floods of tears watching films on Disney+ with his 11-year-old daughter Daisy.
Gary said: “She has these films on and I think, ‘What have we got to sit through tonight?’
“Then you watch it and you are in bloody tears.
“The other one that gets me is (US drama series) This Is Us. I’ve had to stop watching it.
“When my wife and I got to season three, I looked at her and said, ‘I can’t do this any more, it’s ruining my life’.”
A plus, however, is going around unnoticed.
Gary joked to Cosmopolitan mag: “I was in Asda the other week and people just wandered by me. I’m going to do Aldi next week. That it’s illegal not to wear a mask is the best thing that’s ever happened.”
