Good Morning Britain hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid welcomed a wide range of guests on the latest edition of GMB, including former Question Time host David Dimbleby, who spoke about his time on the BBC. So when the topic soon arose this morning, it didn’t take long for Piers to hit out at the broadcaster after playing a clip from David’s recent interview on The One Show, where he was cut off when criticising the Government over their handling of the coronavirus crisis. The clip led to a scathing review from Piers, who labelled it as being “a bit like Russia.”

David is best known for his role of chair on Question Time, a post he left at the end of 2018 after 25 years.

However, it hasn’t stopped him from making appearances on the BBC elsewhere, with one recent interview taking place on The One Show

But with David coming on the show to speak about his popular podcast, the topic had soon turned to the coronavirus pandemic.

And when David started to criticise the Government’s handling of the ordeal, he was soon cut off by host Jermaine Jenas.

It didn’t take long for Piers to give his own thoughts on the recent incident: “I was absolutely stunned to watch that.

“How did you feel when you were told we don’t want to go into it?” he asked David.

David seemed sympathetic towards the situation, responding: “I thought it was alright, I’d had my say and they wanted me to talk about my podcast… it was a bit clumsy.”

However, Piers made his opinions clear, labelling David being cut off over his views as “a bit like Russia” adding: “It’s like someone making comments about Putin and being silenced.”
