Phil Vickery joined This Morning’s Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford from a pumpkin field as he rustled up recipes inspired by the seasonal vegetable. However, after serving up a roasted pumpkin soup, Phil introduced the second dish he would be making but walked off when Eamonn blasted all soups as “tasting the same”.
After tucking into the soup, Eamonn said: “Tell us about Pumpkin Risotto.”
Phil replied: “It’s a very simple dish of rice, a bit of wine, stock and roasted pumpkin.
“But you know me I’ll finish with a bit of a twist. Nice fresh sage, dead simple, nice and tasty.”
“You know you say pumpkins are tasty,” Eamonn continued. “It’s hard if you’re not a pumpkin aficionado. What does it taste like?”

There was a slight delay in Phil hearing Eamonn’s question leading to the host hitting out: “That’s got you hasn’t it.”
“No it hasn’t,” Phil quipped. “It tastes like squash. Have you had squash Eamonn?”
“Orange squash,” Eamonn joked before the chef replied: “I knew when I said that it was a waste of time.”
Talking to Ruth, Eamonn said: “You know when you look at a menu in a restaurant and you think, ‘I don’t think I’ll like that’ basically all soups taste the same.”
Ruth questioned: “What are you talking about? How can mushroom soup taste like pumpkin soup?”
“Put a bit of pepper on it and it all tastes the same,” Eamonn said.
Ruth apologised: “Phil I’m so sorry, the man’s a philistine what can I say.”
However, Phil had had enough of Eamonn’s comments and walked off screen away.
