'Masterchef' Gordon Ramsay Just Gave This Top-Selling Rapper a Cooking Lesson

How did Masterchef’s Gordon Ramsay end up giving cooking lessons to a major rap star? It all started – where else – on Twitter.

It began with a tweet …

Ramsay has an impressive following on social media. He’s active on the usual channels, and on July 1 made an announcement on Twitter regarding the monumental number of subscribers he just hit on YouTube. “Wow. I’m blown away that I’ve hit my 10 Millionth Subscriber on @YouTube !! Thanks to all of you who’ve been in my kitchen ! To celebrate I made an amazing #burger that maybe @seanseaevans will like ? Watch it now to see Gx: https://youtu.be/v191Y8AUk6w ,” he tweeted.

A reply was tweeted out to Ramsay asking for a cooking lesson, posting,“teach me how to make paninis while i’m still london.” The Twitter request came from none other than rap artist Lil Nas X. A little background: the rapper recently dropped a song entitled (what else) “Panini.”

The song turned out to be reminiscent of a group from decades ago. CNN reported that the rapper didn’t realize the melody of “Panini” echoed a song from the 90s band Nirvana. “One of the craziest things about ‘Panini,’ is it introduced me to Nirvana’s album ‘Nevermind,’” he said, as noted by CNN. “It’s like I always seen the cover but I never actually listened to it. And people was like, ‘Wow, he sampled ‘Nirvana.’ I was like, no. It’s like, I didn’t realize I was using almost the exact same melody.”

Vulture stated that Lil Nas X gave Nirvana’s lead singer Kurt Cobain a credit on “Panini,” and also tweeted a thank you to Cobain’s daughter, saying, “panini interpolates parts of nirvana’s “in bloom”. special thank you to frances bean cobain for this!!”

Lil Nas X skyrocketed to fame with his now legendary song “Old Town Road,” which just set the record as longest-running No. 1 hip-hop song in history, according to ABC News.

But back to the kitchen …

Once Lil Nas X tweeted the inquiry to Ramsay, the chefjumped on it, simply replying, “Name the day.”

Obviously, they coordinated their schedules to make their culinary connection. Ramsay tweeted out a picture of the two in the kitchen, proudly holding the freshly made sandwiches with the caption, “Paninis. Done. @LilNasX enjoy @LuckyCatGR.”

This wasn’t their first Twitter conversation …

Lil Nas X has reached out to Ramsay via Twitter before. Last month, he tweeted the chef about possibly collaborating on a remix of “Panini,” posting, “tryna get gordon ramsay on this panini remix.” Ramsay replied, “Tell me more…” The idea obviously intrigued him, and according to Fox News, excited fans of both the chef and the rapper.

Ramsay has probably heard by now that other culinary kingswere courting Lil Nas X to collaborate. Accordingto People, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives host Guy Fieri tweeted the rapper in early June makingreference to his Food Network show. “Is it too late for a Flavor TownRoad Remix @LilNasX?” Fieriasked.

Lil Nas Xresponded to Fieri, tweeting, “it’s never too late for u legend. Fieriresponded with an image of a possible album cover, saying, “Maybe weshould drop Panini before we take a trip to Flavortown @LilNasX?”

As Delish noted, the musician decided to move forward with “Panini” without Fieri, and has since considered teaming up with Ramsay. As of now, fans of both the chef and the rapper are eagerly awaiting further details of the possible musical collaboration, as well as some YouTube footage of their kitchen collusion.
