Married at First Sight contestant Matt is about to find himself at the centre of an explosive episode and he’s issued a statement ahead of the new instalment. Monday’s episode showed him sharing a kiss with Whitney, instead of his wife Gemma.

Alongside a photo of him sitting down looking pensive, he wrote to his near 50,000 followers: “I’ll never forget how intense it was when your name was called to sit on that couch. Being as vulnerable as you can be.

“Opening up to what we’re essentially complete strangers. Trying to understand yourself and the person next to you.

“Thank you Paul C. Brunson, Mel Schilling and Charlene Douglas for being patient, understanding and most of all brave, for putting your careers on the line based on little insights into these couples journeys.

“Whatever is coming, whatever has passed I’ve been myself. Wars in the world are not between wrong and right… They’re between two rights… Otherwise they’d just agree and move on.”

Matt previously took to Instagram stories to absolve himself of any blame people may be attributing to the aspiring tattoo artist.

In the stories he explained: “Just to set the record straight there was no cheating, there was no betrayal.

“Me and Gemma had not been together for seven days and we’d been apart more than we’d ever been together.”

Replying to a comment from a fan he declared: “I’m choosing silence at this point. Otherwise it would just be a back and forth.”

At the end of Friday’s offering, Whitney and Matt’s friendship developed as they bonded over their respective relationship struggles.

As is a theme of this dating show, the drama escalated tenfold with the teaser for the following episode.

He and Gemma shared a bust-up at the dinner party with the married couple shouting at each other.

Whitney and Matt are then shown meeting up by a bridge and a close-up shows them sharing a kiss.

Matt also used his social media page to air his grievances over the editing of the E4 show.

He penned: “Starting this process I didn’t want anyone to get hurt. There was no intention for anybody to end up upset. It’s just not me as a person.

“I do think that the edits are adding longer pauses to things and making things seem very, very dramatic.

“But that’s TV. It’s a TV show at the end of the day, guys. It’s there for your entertainment.”

This view is shared by his wife on the programme, Gemma, who also hit out at the editing of the reality show phenomenon.

She shared: “Storylines like this, the storylines they have created of me, ruins lives. It’s not okay.

“I have two children and a business. And I think if you asked any of the team who worked on Married At First Sight they would say I was one of the nicest people that worked on it. This is unacceptable.”
