Married At First Sight fans were left “cringing” on the latest episode of the E4 show after Jonathan told wife Sophie he wasn’t attracted to her during their vowel renewal.

As viewers watched the pair make a further commitment to eachother and vow to continue their relationship, Jonathan stunned audiences when he admitted that the “spark” was missing and that he hoped that feeling of attraction towards her would grow, but it didn’t.

He went on to say that “doubt set it” as people tried to reassure him.

Fans took to Twitter in their droves to comment.

“Oh Sophie You need to run fast, your stunning and kind oh and Johnathan has basically just said live on National TV he doesn't fancy you (hes an idiot) yet hes decided to give it a go….. #MAFSUK."

Another griped: “Did I miss something?? Jonathan just destroyed Sophie in his speech and then stayed? Or am I confused??”

“Those vows were lukewarm at best Jonathan. I'd be off if I heard them,” added a third.

While a fourth penned: “I’m confused… did Jonathan friendzone Sophie or not?

Those vows were lukewarm at best Jonathan. I'd be off if I heard them.”

Jonathan then proceeded to gush over Sophie's kind perosnality and say they had a "strong foundation" before deciding give their marriage a go.

Elsewhere on the episode, Matt and Whitney were seen making heartfelt vows to one another despite not being married in the experiment.

Chanita and Jordan also exchanged romantic vows and cemented their place as one of the strongest relationships in the series.

Fans saw couple Thomas Hartley and Adrian Sanderson bow out of their renewal after deciding not to continue with their marriage.

The Scouse pair got off to a difficult start as they jetted off to Mexico for their honeymoon.

The two overcame their rocky start and decided to stay together in the final commitment ceremony of the series.

However, questions remained over whether there was a romantic spark in their relationship.

The final dinner party took place on Tuesday's episode and Thomas was upset as he spotted the romantic connection between the other couples at the table.

This prompted the two to have a tearful heart to heart and they decided they would not take their final vows.

Married at First Sight UK airs Monday to Thursday on E4 at 9pm
