Love Island kicked off with a bang last night and Islanders Molly Marsh and Tyrique Hyde quickly realised they had something unusual in common – matching tattoos.
The smash-hit reality dating series made its much anticipated return on 5 June, with a new host of unlucky-in-love singletons venturing to the swanky villa to potentially find their "soulmate" in Mallorca.
For the first time ever, both boys and girls entered the villa, while ITV bosses broke from tradition further and allowed viewers to vote for which Islanders they'd like to couple up during the first episode.
While getting to know one another on the sofas around the famous fire pit, the Islanders were open about having talked about one another, with Jess Harding quipping: "All our ears are burning."
But things quickly changed when Molly, 21, spotted a lightning bolt tattoo behind Tyrique's, 24, left ear. She said: "Oh my goodness, we've got matching tattoos."
The bikini-clad beauty turned and swept her long blonde hair back to show the group her own tattoo. Expletives were bleeped out, but the shock among the new group was clear.
Molly added: "Same ear as well," as the Islanders then laughed together. Tyrique revealed his tattoo has a special meaning, as he was born deaf in his right ear so got the tattoo behind what he called his "good" ear.
The dating series is often dissected on social media, with viewers flocking to Twitter to share their thoughts. Of Molly and Tyrique's matching tattoos, one said: "The matching tattoo? The delulu in me would have me thinking that's my soulmate".
Another said: "Not them having matching tattoos", adding a few crying laughing emojis. A third commented: "It's the matching tattoos for me"
.
One viewer said: "Matching tattoos in the same place is insane. What are the chances?" Another said: "Molly and Tyrique as a couple?they would look amazing together", and then added: "OMG molly and tyrique even have matching tattoos guys i'm a genius".
And another commented: "That tattoo idea is very cute. The electric bolt behind the ear. Awww" while another viewer added: "Ok, that's kinda freaky those two having the same tattoo in the same place 'n all!"
After chatting with the new Love Island stars, host Maya Jama revealed the decision of who they'd couple up with had already been made for them by the public. The Islanders look stunned and model Ella Thomas said: "I don't know what to expect."
Later, after the pairings had been decided, Maya returned to drop a bombshell on the villa as she gathered the Islanders around the fire pit.
Maya, 28, asked the villa: "Are you happy or could you be happier? I have the ultimate dare for you." She then dared those not happy in their couples to step forward.
To which Ruchee Gurung and Jess Harding – the first girls to enter the villa this year – stepped forward, leaving their partners looking awkward amid the "brutal" twist.
Explaining their reasons, the girls admitted that the chemistry was missing with their boys – to which the male Islanders insisted there was no hard feelings.
Things then took another dramatic turn as Maya introduced a new bombshell, personal trainer and basket ball player Zachariah, 25, from London, leaving the villa floored.
